Residency Program

The department of general surgery at Grant Government Medical College and Sir JJ group of hospitals is one of the highly sought residency programs in India. The training consists of three years of postgraduate education in a National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) accredited general surgery residency training program. The residency program is a broad-based prospectus that pursues to train exceptional clinical surgeons and allow residents to customize their education to accomplish their career goals. The training program’s goal is to produce surgeons who are capable of performing a wide range of general surgery procedures. We believe that gradual independence in and out of the operating room is essential for properly preparing surgeons who are ready to practice on the day they graduate from our program. We work hard to ensure that residents have the depth and breadth of clinical experience necessary to function independently.

The residency program is divided into 6 semesters with rotations in four hospitals- Sir JJ hospital, Saint George’s hospital, Gokuldas Tejpal hospital and Cama & Albless hospital. It also includes three months of super-specialty rotations in Neurosurgery, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Oncosurgery, Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery.
